iRacing MPR with Time Trials Guide

Trying to advance your iRacing license? The MPR (Minimum Participation Requirement) can sometimes feel like a hurdle. While participating in races is one way to meet this requirement, you risk your hard-earned Safety Rating (SR).

Fortunately, there’s a safer and more efficient method: using the Time Trial (TT) mode. This guide will walk you through the step-by-step process of completing your MPR using Time Trials, allowing you to get that license promotion without the stress of racing.

How to Enter Time Trial Mode for Your MPR

First, remember that your MPR task is directly tied to the license class you’re aiming for. If you want to advance in a specific discipline, you must complete the Time Trial in a corresponding series.

For example, let’s say you’re in the Sports Car series and want to get promoted from a D-class to a C-class license. You’ve already achieved the required SR, and now only the MPR is left. To secure your promotion without risking your SR, Time Trial is the perfect choice.

The process is simple: Navigate to a series that matches your target license level (e.g., a D-class series), and instead of joining a race, create a “Time Trial” session to begin.

Key Requirements for a Successful Time Trial

So, you’ve created the session. Is it enough to just drive four laps? Not exactly. To successfully complete the requirement, you must follow these specific rules.

Completion Criteria:

  • You must complete 4 full and clean laps in the Time Trial mode.
  • All of these laps must have zero incident points (0x).
  • If you get any incident points during a lap, that lap will not count.
  • You must complete the entire process within 30 minutes.

Important Tips and Notes

  • Your First Lap (Out-Lap) Doesn’t Count: The first lap you drive after entering the session is considered an out-lap and is not valid for the MPR. Therefore, to meet the 4-lap requirement, you need to drive a total of at least 5 laps.
  • Cleanliness Over Speed: The goal is not to be the fastest but to be the safest. Focus on driving carefully and consistently to avoid any incident points.
  • Confirmation from Your Spotter: Once you have successfully completed the requirements, your in-game spotter will announce it over the radio.
  • You Can Exit Early: If you complete your 4 clean laps in less than 30 minutes, you don’t need to wait for the session timer to run out. You can safely exit the session.

By following these steps, you can complete your MPR requirement smoothly and confidently secure your next iRacing license.
